Ruby Kaye, Vocals

Ruby Kaye – Vocals
From childhood, there was never any doubt that Ruby would grow up to be a singer: there was really no other career to consider. Ruby spent most of the 80s and early 90s as a rarity – an actual working musician who didn’t need a day job. Sticking to alternative and pop rock, Ruby fronted several bands that played consistently throughout Southern CA. She has covered everything from from rock, blues, 60s pop, Motown and Country. Ruby has been performing live shows for years with Ragdoll a SoCal Classic Rock/Blues band. She has developed a following that frequently compares her to Janis Joplin. Says Ruby, ” That’s just about the best compliment a girl can get!” Other influences are Tina Turner, Etta James, Sass Jordan, Power Station and Madonna. Ruby has been nominated twice for Best Female Singer at the Orange County Music Awards as well as receiving the same nomination at the South Bay Music Awards. Now she brings her vocal talent and exceptional stage presence to The Hypnotics 60s and 70s tribute show.

John Kane, bass

John Kane – Bass Guitar
John hails from Michigan’s thumb, but was raised on Air Force bases around the world until moving to Anaheim in the 70s. He started his rock and roll obsession with OC’s seminal garage band, Don’t Ask.  After that John played with several bands in OC and LA, including a long stint in Disarray then onto 4 years as the token white guy in a reggae band…in King Arthur’s Royal Posse, after which he took a break from music for 12 years, until the Don’t Ask reunion sessions of 2004, resulting in the Just Say Cheese CD. The OGs from Dont Ask formed the The Hypnotics with the idea of doing all the oldies that we love but have never had a project to cover them. John also plays in The Classic Alternative band Catalina Wine Mixer (www.catalinawinemixer.info)

JON ANDERSEN – DRUMS/PERCUSSION

Jon Andersen started his percussion career in high school as a drummer in the punk band Gorgeous. Then the Indie band Red Letter Day, where Jon honed his skills in drum phrasing and song composition,  and classic rock band The Lonely Hearts with David Paul. It has allowed him to embody the music he grew up listening to; Beatles Led Zep, The Who , Rush, The Police, and many others. The newest member in The Hypnotics veteran ensemble, Jon plans to infuse his own inspirations to mesh with the group’s already steller musicianship and repertoire. Jon lives in Riverside and is engaged to the beautiful Heidi…you’re all invited to the wedding!

“My dad would take me to sit in at blues jams or with whatever band would have me.  I think I played my first bar at 12 years old.  I’m sure people were skeptical, but once they heard me I earned their respect.  It was clear I just wanted to play music.”  Now at 26, Davey P earns a living performing at bars, clubs & casinos all over southern California. He sings lead with The Hypnotics and plays a wicked guitar!
